Salil Sainis, Researcher in Atmospheric Corrosion at RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, published an article titled “A localized study on the influence of surface preparation on the reactivity of cast Al-7Si-1Fe and Al-7Si-2Cu-1Fe alloys and their effect on cerium conversion coating deposition” in Applied Surface Science.

The article highlights that surface preparation affects nobility of different intermetallics differently; surface preparation choice dictated by underlying microstructure; and localized conversion coating deposition correlate with AFM-SKPFM measurements.

Salil has a PhD in Materials and Manufacturing Engineering from Jönköping University and their research focuses on metallurgy, corrosion, and protection.
